The Mission
We are a worshiping community that desires to glorify God by being faithful to the scriptures, true to the reformed faith, and obedient to the Great Commission.
Who are we?
A church of the Presbyterian Church in America worshipping in Powhatan
What do we do?
We proclaim the Gospel (the good news about Jesus Christ), are transformed by the Gospel, and worship because of the Gospel.
Where do we do this?
Primarily in Powhatan, but also domestically and internationally
How do we do this?
The only tools we use to do ministry are the ones that God has provided — reading and preaching the Word, prayer, sacraments, service, giving, and fellowship. We plant and water; God provides the growth.
Why do we do this?
We do it because we love our savior, love our neighbor, and desire to see everyone around us glorify God and enjoy him forever!
The Vision
We desire to make, equip, send, and support disciples who are advancing the Kingdom of God in Powhatan, internationally, and intergenerationally. We are looking forward to building a building as a step in this direction as a long-term base for the ministry to extend our mission into the future.
"Is there no refuge from strife? Is there no place of refreshing where a man can prepare for the battle of life? Is there no place where two or three can gather in Jesus' name, to forget for the moment all those things that divide nation from nation and race from race, to forget human pride, to forget the passions of war, to forget the puzzling problems of industrial strife, and to unite in overflowing gratitude at the foot of the Cross? If there be such a place, then that is the house of God and that the gate of heaven. And from under the threshold of that house will go forth a river that will revive the weary world."
