How it all started...
- 2009
God called Leonard Liu to plant Evergreen Community Church in Powhatan, Virginia, as. We started meeting at Flat Rock Elementary School (FRES), training leadership, and raising up a new congregation for Christ. - 2016
We bought land in Powhatan (~10 acres) to be our future church home. This purchase included a small home as well as an existing antique store which was originally a chicken coop/barn. We currently use the Coop as a church office and meeting space. - 2019
Pastor Leonard retired from ministry, and the church called Robert Barnes to be our pastor. - 2022
Evergreen called Pastor Nick Krauss. After a period at the War Memorial, we returned to holding services at FRES. - Today
Pastor Nick continues to preach and teach God's word every Sunday at FRES. After a large anonymous donation to our building fund, we are moving forward with plans to build a church building on our land.
Where we are headed...
The Building Committee continues to work with our architect and builder to refine and finalize the plans for our future place of worship. Our goal is to build a beautiful building that honors God and gives Evergreen a long-term base for ministry in Powhatan. We dream of a place for our children to get married, and our grandchildren and great-grandchildren to worship.

Be a part of our story...
Join us every Sunday as we gather to worship together at 10am at Flat Rock Elementary School, at 2210 Batterson Road.
