The privilege of reading the Gospels is the privilege that the disciples themselves had: the chance to follow Jesus, see what He is like, hear Him teach, and witness His unique power. Jesus is like a Good Shepherd who loves His sheep and is able to protect and provide for all of their needs. Some needs we recognize. When we feel the weight of those need we proceed to turn to almost anything besides the Triune God to ease our anxieties. But there are many other needs which we have that we tend to either overlook or completely ignore. The dangers that we face, the needs that we have, reach far beyond the physical needs that are our immediate concern. We must learn that only He can be relied upon for all of our needs because He is the glorious one who offers true safety for His sheep.
